Serving Others

“Serving in God’s World with Love.”

Christ Lutheran has a number of opportunities for service!

Get “on mission” by giving some time weekly/monthly/occasionally to help CLC serve in God’s world with love. Listed below are just a few ways...

Prayer and Baptism Shawls

Throughout the year we offer prayer shawls to those in the hospital and Baptism shawls to every child baptized at CLC. These shawls, knitted and crocheted by CLC members, offer warmth, welcome, and comfort in some of life’s most joyous and difficult times.  We are in need of  more shawls. If you are someone you know would be willing to dedicate some time and yarn to this ministry, that would be much appreciated. There are patterns available in the Health and Wellness office. Call the church office for more information.

Meal Train for Toni Poletes

Toni and John are pretty wiped out at the end of the day, so these meals twice a week really make a difference. It’s the little things like food that bring comfort to others. Thank you so much to those who have participated!

Visiting Nursing Home Residents and Home Bound

We are looking for a few people willing to visit some of the members of CLC who are currently in the nursing home or are home bound. If you have never done this before, be assured that the most important thing is your presence. You will never know the difference you make in the lives of those in nursing homes and those home bound, and what a difference they can make in you. See Pastor Joel for more information.

Nursery on Sunday Mornings

We are looking for adult and high school and Jr. high school students (who have had Red Cross baby sitting training) to volunteer in our nursery during our 9:45 service. We are hoping to have at least one adult or two Jr. or Sr. high youth volunteer each Sunday. See the signup sheet on the kiosk in the Nyman Center. The nursery is primarily for children 3 and under.

Prayer Chain

When prayer requests come in, we send them out to people who are willing to add these special prayer requests to their daily prayer life. If you would like to be added to the Prayer Chain, or if you have a special prayer request that you would like to have added to the prayer chain, please email the church office.

Chore Services Initiative:

An initiative that matches seniors and adults with disabilities with volunteers and professional service providers to assist with household chores and projects.

Many seniors these days are choosing to live independently and stay in their homes for longer. But sometimes you need just a little help with everyday chores like cleaning, painting, small repairs, lawn care, snow removal or even gardening. The goal of the Chore Services Initiative is to help seniors remain in their homes longer by connecting them with volunteers and professional service providers who can help them with chores and home projects. This initiative is open to seniors age 55 and over, along with adults with disabilities.

Want to be a Chore Services Volunteer? We need your help! Contact Lisa or Elena in the Volunteer Center at 651-439-7434.

Need a little help with some chores, gardening, lawn care etc.? Call 651-439-7434 and ask about the Chore Services Initiative.

CLC Quilters

Many of you know that in May, the Quilters donated a quilt to WAPO Lutheran Bible Camp for their Memorial Day Quilt auction. We our proud to say that the final bid for our quilt was $290. It was the highest bid of any of the 33 quilts that were donated from various churches in the area! All the money raised went towards the work and ministry of WAPO. Thank you to all the Quilters who helped with the quilt.

And just in case you didn’t know, the Quilters meet the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month at 9:30 a.m.

New people are always welcome and you don’t need any previous experience.  All the quilts they put together are given away to local and global mission organizations.

As you browse through the announcements, please know you are invited to be a part of the ministries mentioned here which include classes, small groups, special events, and service opportunities.  We hope you find something that speaks to your interests as it is a great way to get to know the faith community of Christ Lutheran.
